AUTHORS (RESEARCHERS) GUIDELINES FOR MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION

Authors should submit their manuscripts electronically through the Journal website submission system, to the Editorial Office. Website of TANMIYAT AL-RAFIDAIN Journal (TANRA):

tanmiyat.mosuljournals.com

1: SUBMISSION OF RESEARCH MANUSCRIPT (PAPER)

1-1: Requirements for first time submission (new manuscript paper).

Authors may choose to submit the manuscript as a single (word) file and submit them fully on the website to be used in the refereeing process (arbitration and scientific evaluation).

1-2: Requirement of revised submission (Revised or modified manuscript paper).

Only when the submitted paper is at the revision stage (arbitration and scientific evaluation), authors will be requested to put the paper into a 'correct format' after making the required amendments from the arbitrators” to be accepted, as well as to provide the items required for the publication of the manuscript.

1-3: Authorship Guidelines.

Authorship credibility of the submitted manuscript should be based on: (i) Substantial contributions to conception and design, acquisition of data, or analysis and interpretation of data, (ii) Drafting the article (research manuscript) or revising it critically for important intellectual content; and (iii) Final approval of the version (research manuscript) to be submitted for publication. All of these conditions should be met by all authors (named on the title page) in the process of submitting their scientific manuscripts. Acquisition of funding, collection of data, or general supervision of the research group alone does not constitute authorship for some contributors to be mentioned as authors of the manuscript. Hence, all contributors in research paper who do not meet the criteria for authorship should be listed in an acknowledgments section at the end of research paper. All authors of the research manuscript must agree on the sequence of authors listed (title page) before submitting the manuscript for publishing. Through submitting process, all authors must agree to designate one author as an authorized author (responsible) for dealing with the journal to complete the submission. It is the responsibility of authorized author to arrange the whole manuscript upon the requirements and to dialogue with the co-authors during the peer-reviewing (arbitration and scientific evaluation), and proofreading stages and to also act on behalf.

2: BEFORE YOU BEGIN, DEAR AUTHOR

2-1: Ethics in Publishing of TANMIYAT AL-RAFIDAIN Journal.

The ethical policy of TANMIYAT AL-RAFIDAIN Journal is based on the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines and complies with the Rules of Conduct adopted by the Editorial Board of TANMIYAT AL-RAFIDAIN Journal. Therefore, Readers, authors (researchers), arbitrators (evaluators), and editors (editorial board members) should follow these ethical policies once working with TANRA. Hence, the ethical policy of TANRA is liable to determine which of the typical research papers or articles submitted to the journal should be published. The publishing decision is based also on the suggestions and recommendations of the journal's reviewers and editorial board members. The ethical policy insisted the Editor-in-Chief, may confer with other editors or arbitrators in making the decision to accept the publishing or not. The arbitrators are necessary to evaluate the research papers based on the submitted content in confidential manner. The arbitrators also suggest the authors to improve the quality of research paper by their reviewing comments (arbitration and scientific evaluation). Authors should ensure that their submitted research work is original and has not been published elsewhere and in any other language. In this context, applicable copyright laws and conventions should be followed by the authors. Any kind of plagiarism constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable. For information on this matter in publishing and ethical guidelines please click here.

2-2: Peer-Review Process (Manuscript evaluation).

In order to sustain the peer review system in TANRA, authors (researchers) have an obligation to participate in peer review process to arbitrate and evaluate manuscripts from others (arbitrators or evaluators). When appropriate, authors are obliged to provide retractions and/or corrections of errors to the editors and the publisher about their manuscripts, the authors are also allowed to propose arbitrators to their manuscripts and submit their names to the journal's secretariat. All papers and articles submitted to TANRA journal will be peer reviewed and evaluated scientifically based on at least two scientific arbitrators (evaluator). Hence, TANRA journal adopts a double-blinded review policy: authors are blind to arbitrators, and arbitrators are also blind to authors. The peer review process is conducted in the online manuscript submission and peer-review system. After a manuscript is submitted to the online system, the system immediately notifies the editorial office of TANRA of the arrival of a research paper for publication. After passing an initial quality check by the editorial office, the manuscript will be assigned to two or more reviewers. After receiving reviewers’ comments, the editorial team member makes a decision based on the recommendations of the arbitrators by majority, especially arbitrators sometimes do not agree with each other on the evaluation of these manuscripts. Note the "peer review process in the Journal of TANMIYAT AL-RAFIDAIN" in the "More Information" list on our journal website. Therefore, the final decision sent to the author may not exactly reflect recommendations by any of the arbitrators. The decision after each round of peer review may be one of the following:

  • Accept without any further changes.
  • Accept with second (minor) modifications. Hence, the revised manuscript may or may not be sent to the reviewers for another round of comments.
  • Accept with major and substantial modifications. Hence, the revised manuscript sent to the arbitrators for another round of comments.
  • Reject. The manuscript is rejected for publication by TANRA.
  • Unable to review (arbitrators or evaluators). The specializations of the manuscripts submitted may not be within the scope and interest of the arbitrator. Therefore, another arbitrator is assigned to evaluate the research scientifically

2-3: Post-Publication Evaluation.

In addition to Peer Review Process, the TANRA Journal has Post-Publication Evaluation by the scientific community (Chairman and members of the Editorial Board). Post-Publication Evaluation is concentrated to ensure that the quality of published research, review and case report meets certain standards and the conclusions that are presented are justified. The post-publication evaluation includes online comments and citations on published papers. Authors (researchers) may respond to the comments of the scientific community and may revise their manuscript. The Post-Publication Evaluation is described in such a way; it is allowing authors to publish quickly on contemporary topics related to economic, administrative and accounting sciences.

3: PREPARATION OF MANUSCRIPTS

Manuscripts must be submitted in one of the two languages, either Arabic or English, and should be written according to sound grammar (writing & spelling) and proper terminology. Hence, manuscripts should be written in (16) pages- otherwise the cost of additional pages is estimated by the accountancy unit of the journal – using (A4) paper for typing, margins (3.5 cm from the right and left, 4 cm from the top and 5 cm from the bottom) in the software (MS-Word), typed in Simplified Arabic (12 points) for Arabic, Times New Roman (12 points) for English, with type (as a small chida) and spacing between lines (single). Manuscript submission must be applied once in order to obtain only one submission ID number. More than one submission for a single manuscript can lose the chance of the manuscript consideration. Manuscript must be accompanied by a Title Page including title and author(s) name and their affiliations, and e-mails.

Plagiarism is a serious violation of publication ethics. Other violations include duplicate publication, data fabrication and falsification, and improper credit of author contribution. Thus, the Plagiarism or Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior are unacceptable and submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable. It is necessary to mention that TANRS Journal may ignore a duplicated manuscript up to 20%. The development of (CrossCheck) is a service that helps editors to verify the originality of papers. (CrossCheck) is powered by the (Ithenticate) software from (iParadigms), known in the academic community as providers of (Turnitin). For a searchable list of all journals in the (CrossCheck) database, please click here.

All new submissions to many TANRA journal are automatically screened using (CrossCheck) within the editorial system. Editorial Board Member may also choose to run a similarity report at any other point during the review process or post-publication. The default similarity report view gives the percentage of the text of the manuscript which has overlap with one or more published articles. Figures and equations cannot be checked at present. Note that a high similarity score does not necessarily indicate plagiarized text. A similarity score of 30% could mean 30% text in common with one source but could equally mean 1% text in common with 30 different sources. Re-used text that has been legitimately cited the Bibliography may all contribute to the similarity score. The subject knowledge of an editorial expert is vital in order to interpret the (CrossCheck) report and determine whether there are any grounds for concern.
